Jonas Wood Jonas Wood

Jonas Wood's recurring motifs are domestic interiors, studio spaces, family and friends, landscapes and still-life arranged to create overlapping textures that blur the boundaries of figuration and abstraction. Holding both a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a Masters of Fine Arts degree, the Los Angeles based artist says about his work: "I'm interested in exploring the spaces that I've inhabited and the psychological impact they've had on me and my memories of them. And then I can create a new memory of that space." Often associated with the work of Matisse and Hockney, Wood’s work is included in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Solomon R. Guggenheim, New York; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Los Angeles County Museum of Art and many others.
